1 Corinthians 3:4-9

"For when one says, "I follow Paul," and another, "I follow Apollos," are you not mere men?

What, after all, is Apollos? And what is Paul? Only servants, through whom you came to believe—as the Lord has assigned to each his task. I planted the seed, Apollos watered it, but God made it grow. So neither he who plants nor he who waters is anything, but only God, who makes things grow. The man who plants and the man who waters have one purpose, and each will be rewarded according to his own labor. For we are God's fellow workers; you are God's field, God's building."

May 2011 Prayer Letter

Below you'll find the text to our May Prayer letter. Please join us in praying this month.

"Holy, Holy, Holy is the Lord God Almighty, who was, and is, and is to come.” Revelation 4:8

Potter’s Field Kids (Las Manos del Alfarero)

This past month  has been full and fruitful.  We celebrated in the weekly Bible Club early in the month as twenty-two faithful members completed Book One  and had memorized their verses. They were all rewarded with one of the new Club t-shirts, which they were all very excited about! It is such a joy to see so many take serious studying God’s Word and guarding it in their hearts at such young ages. We were excited to receive a visit from Dawn Marie, of Potter’s Field Ministries, who snapped many pictures during her few days with us.  It was extremely encouraging  to hear from her about the other PFK’s around the world and how things work and to realize that there are many similarities between the Lord’s work here in Villarreal and other areas like El Salvador and Entebbe, Uganda. God is so good! We are very thankful and very excited that we will be receiving three more PFK interns next month! We are looking forward to their time here and watching the Lord work in their lives as they serve him here.  We also enjoyed time together as one large group during Semana Santa  (Holy Week). Since all the kids are on school vacation, we arranged a combined morning schedule so we could unite the two groups. The kids began teaching each other several basic words they have learned in English through small groups. It was great encouragement to see them acting as teacher and practicing and applying what they have learned. We also taught the Easter story to the PFK kids through the use of Resurrection Eggs. Even though this week is set apart from others, most children do not understand it’s importance. The Resurrection Eggs are a great, interactive tool that help children learn exactly what Jesus did for them and why we can have hope in Him.  Each child received materials to make their own paper version of the eggs as well. Thanks, FEPC, for leaving the set with us last year! We ended the week with a special sports day at a nearby synthetic soccer field. Both the kids and the adults had a great time! It was a wonderful look into the future as we think about how to  include days like this on a more regular basis and incorporating sports into Potter’s Field Kids. We were sad to see several kids move away this month and will miss each of them greatly.

There is no better way than to celebrate our Risen King then a sunrise service on the beach. What a joyous Easter Sunday the Lord blessed us with this year! This month  brought the quarterly Visa renewal trip for our family, which brought with it an adventure to remember (see the blog for details). We are so thankful for the ways the Lord watches over our times of travel and the endless ways he provides for our needs. We enjoyed our time with our friends in San Juan del Sur, Nicaragua, but as always, were thankful to be back home. We are looking forward to a Calvary Chapel Marriage Retreat in Heredia, Costa Rica the first week of May.

We ask you to pray for each child in PFK. Pray for their basic needs to be met. Pray for them as learn who God is and all He has done for them. Pray for them to be salt and light in their school, in their families, and in their homes. Pray for them to desire to be like Jesus more than anything else. Pray for our ministry team to offer grace to each other and that we seek the Lord first in all things. Pray for protection against the enemy always for our ministry team, PFK and Bible Club, Calvary Chapel Church, our marriage, our family.
