1 Corinthians 3:4-9

"For when one says, "I follow Paul," and another, "I follow Apollos," are you not mere men?

What, after all, is Apollos? And what is Paul? Only servants, through whom you came to believe—as the Lord has assigned to each his task. I planted the seed, Apollos watered it, but God made it grow. So neither he who plants nor he who waters is anything, but only God, who makes things grow. The man who plants and the man who waters have one purpose, and each will be rewarded according to his own labor. For we are God's fellow workers; you are God's field, God's building."

Prayer for the Sappia family

Please pray for our dear friends, John and Lisa Sappia, serving the Lord in Paraguay. We met them in language school and have continued to keep in touch over the years through email.

They need your prayers right now. John and their son, Andrew, are currently in the US as John has been undergoing some exams on his heart. Lisa and their other three children are still in Paraguay. Please read the portion of John's recent email below and please bathe this family in prayer.

"Well, the doctors called last night with the results from my tests. In fairness, the results are not very good. The doctors are saying that there are two things wrong with my heart. First, my pulmonary valve is damaged and needs to be replaced and unfortunately, this will require open-heart surgery, which is scheduled for October 25th. This is all new to me and so I will meet with my surgeon tomorrow (10/15) to find out more information and specifics.

Second, my heart's electrical system is not running well and that means that two or three weeks after the valve replacement I will need another surgery where the doctors will take out my pace-maker, install another lead in my ventricle and put in a pacer/defribilator.

Lisa and the kids will leave on Sunday to join me here in the states. As of now, we do not know much about the recovery time and that includes not knowing when we would be able to return to Paraguay.

Please know two things. First, Lisa and I have peace as we are going through all this. Not all the time, of course, but we really feel a peace that certainly passes understanding. Second, we know that we have peace because you are praying! Please don't stop. Please keep praying for God's peace, for God's healing and for the doctor's wisdom. Please also pray for good decisions and a quick and easy flight for Lisa and the kids!"

I am late in posting this, as Lisa and the kids are flying today from Paraguay to the States. Please cover them in your prayers and John as he prepares for surgery.

Pray for them to have continued peace, wisdom, and guidance from the Lord.
