1 Corinthians 3:4-9

"For when one says, "I follow Paul," and another, "I follow Apollos," are you not mere men?

What, after all, is Apollos? And what is Paul? Only servants, through whom you came to believe—as the Lord has assigned to each his task. I planted the seed, Apollos watered it, but God made it grow. So neither he who plants nor he who waters is anything, but only God, who makes things grow. The man who plants and the man who waters have one purpose, and each will be rewarded according to his own labor. For we are God's fellow workers; you are God's field, God's building."

Potter's Field Kids (Las Manos del Alfarero)

I am so behind on blog posts and I apologize...it has been crazy busy for us getting accostomed to our new schedule and routine. we started Potter's Field Kids about three weeks ago and already we have found great joy in serving the Lord through this ministry. With loving my family and taking care of them, homeschooling every morning, afternoon chores around the house and preparing for two separate lessons and two nights of PFK, along with three other discipleship groups I have found myself a bit busy lately. But, it is that type of busyness that fills me with joy in serving the Lord.

We started the Bible Club, which is supported through PFK, and open to all children ages 5-12, on Thursday, September 16th. we had about 26 kids the first week, many who were part of the PFK program. The following Wednesday we had the first night of PFK, and only had about half of the kids enrolled show up. the next night at Bible Club, however, there were about 40 kids, including all of the enrolled PFK students! This week, we had a full house Wednesday and last night again we had about 40 kids! We make adjustments each week, adapt and work to make things better, all in preparation for the full program which will begin in February 2011.

Each night for PFK, we have a time of music, discipleship, tutoring and then we serve the kids a meal. Through this program, the Lord is already allowing us opportunities to love on these kids in ways some maybe have never have. It was so sweet this week when some of the boys came up to both Matt and I before they left to give us hugs. These are boys who before PFK have barely talked with me, but now understand that we love them and care for them.

Through Bible Club, we are able to give the kids who come biblical teaching, games and songs and also a meal. Our model is that of an AWANA program, but we still have a lot kinks to work out.

If anyone has any suggestions or has worked with AWANA and would like to offer suggestions or help of any kind, please feel free to comment here or contact me with any information you have! Thanks!

Also, please consider praying for these children by name. If you would like more information on how to do this, please contact me by leaving a comment and I will get back with you. Thank you for your prayers and partnership in ministry in Costa Rica!

The pictures are a mixture of both PFK and Bible Club and are in no particular order.
