1 Corinthians 3:4-9

"For when one says, "I follow Paul," and another, "I follow Apollos," are you not mere men?

What, after all, is Apollos? And what is Paul? Only servants, through whom you came to believe—as the Lord has assigned to each his task. I planted the seed, Apollos watered it, but God made it grow. So neither he who plants nor he who waters is anything, but only God, who makes things grow. The man who plants and the man who waters have one purpose, and each will be rewarded according to his own labor. For we are God's fellow workers; you are God's field, God's building."

January 2011 Prayer Letter

Below you'll find our January 2011 Prayer Letter. If you'd like to be added to our email or hardcopy list, please contact me or leave a comment in the comment box.

Potter’s Field Kids (Las Manos del Alfarero)

We thank you who support PFK and our family for the privilege to serve here in Costa Rica. We want to thank Hickory Grove Church in rural Indiana for your special offering which provided a Christmas party for the weekly Bible Club. With the same offering, we were able to feed the families of PFK a meal, give each child a small Christmas gift and each family received a food bag. The kids presented the program they’d been practicing for over a month. THANK YOU for meeting the physical needs of these precious kids and allowing for a special time of fun and games. If you’d like to pray for a specific child or become more involved in this ministry, please contact us. For more about PFK go to www.pottersfield.org.

Next month school will be back in session. Many kids are unable to start school on time due to lack of uniforms, which are mandatory to attend school here. Last year we were able to provide uniforms and/or school supplies for over 50 children. This year we have no funds for this ministry. Would you consider giving this month to allow us to purchase school uniforms for the kids of PFK, the local church and community? If so, please contact us or send your offering to Shepherd’s Staff with our missionary # and earmark the offering “school uniforms.” Thank you for prayerfully considering this ministry.

As we begin a new year and a new decade, we realize we, as a family, are due for a new beginning. It is time to allow joy, grace, and thanksgiving to reign in our lives. It is time to be real and honest and allow you, our faithful ministry partners to understand our need for an even deeper partnership, one that goes beyond paper or financial gifts, but one that unites us as the family of God through the blood of Christ, in an intimate prayer relationship. We’ve sought over the years to form a team of prayer partners, a team we can count on to get on their knees in any given moment on behalf of our family, marriage, kids, and ministry. To be honest, the response we’ve gotten has been minimal. The need for this prayer team is urgent, as the battles we face daily grow increasingly tougher. Would you prayerfully consider joining the McClain Family Prayer Team in 2011? If you feel the Lord leading you to this specific ministry for our family, please take the time to contact us directly through email, skype or by phone at the US number listed above that rings in our Costa Rican home and is only a long-distance charge (NOT international). You may think we might already realize you are praying for us daily or that you consider yourself ‘on the team.’ Even so, would you mind contacting us and letting us know? We can then give you a better idea of what our needs are, the goal for this prayer team and find out the best way to contact you with prayer requests and then we will know without a doubt who’s ‘on the team!’

The following are several specific scriptures you can pray for our family and ministry throughout 2011:

Matthew 14:19 1 Peter 5:7 Philippians 1:3-11

Matthew 22:37 Romans 15:13 Philippians 4:4-9
