1 Corinthians 3:4-9

"For when one says, "I follow Paul," and another, "I follow Apollos," are you not mere men?

What, after all, is Apollos? And what is Paul? Only servants, through whom you came to believe—as the Lord has assigned to each his task. I planted the seed, Apollos watered it, but God made it grow. So neither he who plants nor he who waters is anything, but only God, who makes things grow. The man who plants and the man who waters have one purpose, and each will be rewarded according to his own labor. For we are God's fellow workers; you are God's field, God's building."

More info on Dad's surgery

Well, I have a little more info on my Dad's surgery now:

He is having cardiac bypass surgery, which is open heart surgery. The surgeon will cut through his breastbone and open up his chest. They will take an artery from his leg and connect it to his heart and literally "bypass" the blocked artery, which will redirect the blood flow. The two left arteries that have lesser blockage will be bypassed as well by re-routing the valve.

The aeortic valve will also be replaced during the surgery with a mechanical valve.

The surgery will take place on Tuesday, September 15, 2009. He will be admitted at 5:30 am and the surgery will take place in the morning. It will last 4-6 hours and his recovery will include an intensive care stay as well as regular hospital stay that will be combined time of about a week. He will be off work for a minimum of 6 weeks.

It is wonderful for me to have a better understanding of exactly what is going on. I am truly thankful for the ability to pick up the phone and call at any time. We will be home during the day Tuesday and my mom and aunt have promised to check in with me as they receive updates.

This is major surgery. Please pray.
